Trihalomethane Levels in Municipal Drinking Water of Madrid (Spain) and Health Risk Assessment for Oral Exposure

چکیده
Abstract Trihalomethanes (THMs) are generated in the drinking water treatment plant, due to reaction of halogenated disinfection compounds with natural organic matter (NOM). They related health problems both from point view cancer development and other important diseases. This study aimed assess quality tap Madrid terms prevention control THMs risks supply treated by Canal de Isabel II (CYII) a total 108 samples throughout 2015 2020, distinguish different 21 districts or types buildings, seasonality estimate risk exposure population Madrid. The variables considered include year, seasonality, district sampling point. concentrations detected all were within current legal limit (100 µg/l). Chloroform was compound highest contribution sum THMs. A decreasing trend observed over years removal NOM use chloramines. THM levels higher central area than peripheral lowest summer. Regarding assessment, results non-carcinogenic indicate that there is no potential consumption for adult population. For carcinogenic risk, only between 50 75 µg/l could constitute high consumers.

Multipathway risk assessment of trihalomethane exposure in drinking water of Lebanon.
The toxicological risks and lifetime cancer risks of trihalomethanes through oral ingestion, dermal absorption, and inhalation exposure from tap water in selected regions in Lebanon are estimated. Existing trihalomethane concentrations do not pose any non-carcinogenic and developmental risks in the exposed population via oral ingestion. Among the three pathways, residents have a higher risk of ...
متن کاملDNA methylation levels and long-term trihalomethane exposure in drinking water: an epigenome-wide association study.
Trihalomethanes (THM) are undesired disinfection byproducts (DBPs) formed during water treatment. Mice exposed to DBPs showed global DNA hypomethylation and c-myc and c-jun gene-specific hypomethylation, while evidence of epigenetic effects in humans is scarce. We explored the association between lifetime THM exposure and DNA methylation through an epigenome-wide association study. We selected ...
متن کاملLifetime risk assessment of Radium-226 in drinking water samples
Background: One of the most significant radionuclides in natural drinking waters is 226Ra and its decay products. It is potential of health problems, including cancer risk. In this study, the effect of 226Ra concentration in 28 drinking water samples collected from the North Guilan province was investigated. Materials and Methods: The activity concentrations of 226Ra were measured by using of r...

The relationship between environmental noise and health has been examined in depth. In view of the sheer number of persons exposed, attention should be focused on road traffic noise. The city of Madrid (Spain) is a densely populated metropolitan area in which 80% of all environmental noise exposure is attributed to traffic. The aim of this study was to quantify avoidable deaths resulting from r...
